In early July 2026 forest fires spread in the Yamalo-Nenets and Khanty-Mansi autonomous okrugs. On 10 July 2026 the Government Commission classed the forest emergency in the two okrugs as interregional (from 3 July) and the one in Yamal as federal (from 6 July).
