- Flood in Dagestan and the Gedzhukh reservoir breach

Heavy rain on 28 March and 5 April 2026 flooded parts of Dagestan; on 5 April the earth embankment of the Gedzhukh reservoir near Mamedkala breached. According to the Head of Dagestan, six people died, three of them children. On 9 April the situation was classed as an emergency of federal character.
- Fire at the Winter Cherry shopping centre in Kemerovo
Kemerovo, Kemerovo region · 25 Mar 2018 · dead: 60
On 25 March 2018 a fire broke out at the Winter Cherry shopping and entertainment centre in Kemerovo. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, 60 people died, 37 of them children.

- Every quote is checked word for word against an archive copy of its source. Our own words are neutral: dates, actions, figures.
- We name officials of any rank and convicted owners and managers of companies. We do not name those who died, their relatives, witnesses or rank-and-file staff (guards, engineers, rescuers, firefighters): they appear by role.
